What are SMS credits?

To send SMS messages with Messente, you’ll need to purchase SMS credits. The cost for credits depends on the number of SMS messages you plan to send per month and also the destination countries you’ll be sending messages to. Use our pricing calculator to work out an estimate.

How can I buy SMS credits?

You can buy Messente credits easily using a credit card or PayPal. You can also pay by regular bank transfer by requesting an invoice from our support team. Your SMS credits will be added to your account balance after your bank transfer has cleared.

How secure are my payment details?

Messente doesn’t collect or store any credit card or payment information. All payments are processed by your credit card provider, PayPal or your own bank, depending on the payment method you choose.

When will my SMS credits be added to my account balance?

Messente credits are added as soon as your payment has been received. This usually happens instantly when you pay by credit card or PayPal, but if you pay by bank transfer, this may take a few days.

Why have I been charged for messages that were not delivered?

From time to time, you may notice that not all your SMS messages were delivered. This is usually due to reasons outside of Messente’s control. For example, delivery failure sometimes occurs because:

  • The recipient’s mobile phone is switched off or is out of the coverage area.
  • The mobile provider is experiencing difficulties.
  • The phone number is roaming (abroad).
  • The sender you are using is prohibited by a particular operator or country.
  • The carrier network is blocking the SMS.

We have to charge you for every message sent regardless of the delivery status because every message sent has a fixed cost for Messente.

Will I be charged VAT?

VAT is a tax that affects only those businesses based in Estonia and the European Union (EU). Customers outside the EU will not be charged VAT.

EU customers with a company registered VAT number can add this to their account settings to avoid being charged VAT by Messente. However, all EU customers without a VAT number (and all Estonian customers) will be charged VAT at the standard rate of 20%.
